Edžus became fascinated with magic tricks at an early age and quickly realized that performing magic was both his passion and talent. Later, he also developed his acting and stage performance skills.
Ever since childhood, while flipping through Guinness World Records books, Edžus had dreamed of one day seeing his own name in one of them.
At first, he came up with his own original trick idea to submit for a world record attempt, but it was rejected, and he was advised instead to find an existing record and try to break it. That eventually led him to one-handed card cuts.
“Finally! I am officially a Guinness World Record holder!” Edžus announced on his Facebook account.
“The record review process took approximately five months, but the most important thing is that it was officially approved. Now I just have to wait another couple of weeks for the official framed certificate, but that’s no longer the important part. I’m simply happy that I achieved it!”
Edžus broke the record for “Most one-handed Charlier cuts in one hour.”
The previous record stood at 3333 one-handed card cuts, while Edžus completed 3547 cuts within a single hour. Since one hour contains 3600 seconds, this means Edžus performed the move almost every second for an entire hour.
Since then, the record has been surpassed by an illusionist from Poland, but Edžus remains the first illusionist from Latvia to ever achieve a Guinness World Record.
